Pulitzer Prize Focus: Damage to Public Trust?

More on this year’s Pulitzer Prize winners: The Associated Press won for its reporting on the NYPD’s intelligence operations. In NJ FBI: NYPD monitoring damaged public trust, the AP reports the top FBI official in New Jersey has stated the NYPD has hindered the counterterrorism movement with its surveillance of Muslims in New York.

The monitoring of Muslims in Newark and across the state has damaged the public’s trust in New Jersey law enforcement and jeopardized some of the relationships agents had sought to build in the community since 9/11, said Michael Ward, agent in charge of the FBI’s Newark division. [more]
