October 5th marked the passing of several notable Americans.
Steve Jobs (1955–2011). Most publicized was the death of Jobs, the pioneering spirit behind Apple computer. His death made the cover stories of Newsweek, Bloomberg BusinessWeek (in fact, BusinessWeek devoted its entire issue to Jobs, most of it online), and Time (open only to subscribers).
The Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth (1922–2011). A driving force in the civil rights movement, Shuttlesworth was one of the founders of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Obituaries:
