Photos: Slate’s Today’s Pictures

by Bill Hayes

As part of our series on sources for news photographs, we take a bit of a departure today. Slate’s Today’s Pictures features a set of photographs appropriate for the day. For example, on March 15 (the Ides of March), it featured pictures related to Julius Caesar and the Ides of March. The day earlier, it collected a set of pictures related to clocks (as we just went on Daylight Savings Time). Since today is St. Patrick’s Day, Slate features historic pictures of Dublin. You can see how this resource might be quite handy in a classroom. Below is a rainy day in 1964.
